Award Honors the Best Product or Service That Uses Electronic Health Records and Personal Health Data to Improve Patient Engagement.
Luma Health , the leader in total patient engagement, was named a winner in the first annual UCSF Digital Health Awards. “The goal of the UCSF Digital Health Awards is to ultimately help patients access amazing innovations by recognizing and awarding the great companies with the best in-market digital products and services” (https://www.healthhubsf.org/awards/home). Luma Health won in the EHR – Patient Engagement category, which honors the best product or service that uses electronic health records (EHRs) and personal health data to improve patient engagement.
The winners were announced on October 10, 2019, at a ceremony at Byers Auditorium on the campus of the University of California, San Francisco. Winners were selected across 13 categories by a panel of expert judges from the healthcare and VC industries, including Vinod Khosla (Khosla Ventures), Ursheet Parikh (Mayfield Fund), Blake Wu (NEA), Michael Roizen (Cleveland Clinic), Michael Blum, MD (UCSF), Michael Lesh, MD (UCSF) and Dan Burnett (Theranova). The UCSF Digital Health Awards received more than 500 submissions.
“Being recognized by UCSF is a true honor and a testament to the success of our mission to build a patient engagement solution that tightly integrates with today’s EHR systems to modernize patient access and automate patient communications,” said Aditya Bansod, CTO and co-founder, Luma Health. ”By keeping patients connected with their provider and engaged in their own healthcare journey, our industry-leading mobile-first patient engagement technology provides critical support for clinics and physicians to modernize patient access, automate communications with patients, optimize appointment inventory, and maximize staff efficiency.”
The Luma Health platform empowers healthcare providers to extract greater value from their EHRs by unlocking key workflows to improve access and communication across the entire patient journey, from scheduling to maximizing patient outcomes. This year, Luma Health formalized a partnership with Epic and announced additional EHR integration partnerships with athenahealth’s Marketplace and Nextech Systems to deliver increasingly seamless experiences. In all, Luma Health connects to more than 70 different EHR and practice management systems, helping providers maximize their significant EHR investments.
“I was honored to kick off the awards ceremony for the UCSF Health Hub Digital Health Awards by presenting the EHR and Patient Engagement Award to Aditya Bansod, CTO of Luma Health,” said Stefano Bini, CTO of the UCSF Department of Orthopedic Surgery, the award’s presenter. “Luma Health has completely streamlined the scheduling process and improved patient access across multiple medical centers. Few companies have addressed a pain point in healthcare with as clear and demonstrable an ROI.”
The UCSF Digital Health Award win is the latest validation of Luma Health’s mission to eliminate barriers to care by modernizing communication across the entire patient journey. In August the company announced $16 million in Series B equity funding, which brings its total equity funding to $25.7 million. The latest round was led by PeakSpan Capital, with strategic investments from Cisco Investments, the Texas Medical Center, and continued investment from U.S. Venture Partners. Luma Health plans to use this round of funding to scale and meet the demands of its high-velocity growth.
