Partnership brings enhanced telehealth and text messaging outreach capabilities to 45 community health centers across the state
Luma Health, the leader in total patient engagement, today announced it has been selected as the preferred patient engagement partner by the Michigan Primary Care Association (MPCA) to modernize and accelerate access to care for more than 709,000 patients in Michigan’s most vulnerable communities. Luma Health’s patient engagement platform will help Michigan’s 45 community health centers improve access to care, activate underserved patients through multilingual messaging, and better manage patients with chronic diseases.
“Our goal is to help alleviate clinical pain points among our member health centers so that they can provide the best possible care to their communities,” said Dennis Litos, CEO of the MPCA. “We wanted a multilingual solution that could improve access to care, fill care gaps, support chronic disease self-management, and drive down no-show rates. Luma Health’s platform addresses these needs.”
Community health centers are local health care organizations that provide cost-effective primary and preventive care, including dental, behavioral health services, substance use disorder treatment, vision, and pharmacy, to people who live in medically underserved areas. They also connect their patients to wraparound services — food and housing assistance, transportation, and translation — that support whole-person health and access to care.
The Luma Health platform supports this patient-centered approach by using mobile-first patient engagement technology to facilitate consistent, personalized communication between health centers and the populations they serve. With Luma Health, health centers can streamline outreach efforts and deliver patient-specific health education in more than 20 languages, patients can self-schedule appointments, and providers can reduce no-shows and optimize their schedules through smart reminders and waitlists — all of which helps providers deliver a better experience and improved outcomes.
“Health centers and Luma Health together have a proven record of success in moving the needle on community health. By leveraging the Luma Health platform, one health center was able to more than triple its outreach conversion rate, which translates to getting more patients the care they need,” said Adnan Iqbal, CEO and co-founder of Luma Health. “Using our technology, that same health center increased access to preventive screenings by more than 30%. We are proud and excited to partner with MPCA to drive an even greater impact for Michigan’s communities.”
